There are many excellent value (under-the-radar) watch brands which deserve a higher profile given their excellent quallty. In this category I would include the venerated Swiss watch company Movado.
MOVADO- is an Esperanto word meaning always in motion, The company was founded in La Chaux -De-Fonds in Switzerland in 1881 and has enjoyed a distinguished history including the Grand Priz at the Universal Exhibition in Brussels in 1910. Prized watches from Movado include the Polyplan (1912) the Ermeto (1926) and the first Museum Watch (1947) which later became THE first watch to be admitted tnto the Museum of Modern Art (1960).
This lovely Movado example - left is from 1948 has an 18 carat gold case and bezel measuring 33mm-excl crown, with a ‘pie-pan dial with a soft gold patina. SOLD.
